It’s Back to School Time on Daniel Island!

August 12, 2015

It’s that time of year again! The three schools on Daniel Island will soon open their doors for another school year, welcoming thousands of students to their classrooms, sports teams and clubs. Two schools on Daniel Island – Bishop England High School and the Daniel Island School – aren’t just celebrating another school year as classes begin, but also important milestones in their respective histories.

For Bishop England, the island’s private Catholic high school, it’s a special year as they celebrate their 100th year centennial. Bishop England moved to its current location on Daniel Island in 1998, but the school has a long history in Charleston that dates back to 1915. Today, it is the largest private high school in the state with an enrollment of approximately 750 students. To learn more about their centennial celebration, visit BishopEngland100.com.

The Daniel Island School will also celebrate an important birthday this year, as 2016 will mark the school’s 10th anniversary. As Daniel Island has grown, so has the school. When it opened in 2006, it served 575 students; today the school serves 1,300 students in grades K through 8th and is considered one of the best public schools in the state.
