Island Resident Opens LIDI, A New Option for Italian Dining on Daniel Island

June 9, 2014

This spring, Daniel Island residents and visitors got a new option for delicious Italian food on Daniel Island with the opening of LIDI – or Little Italy, Daniel Island – located at the corner of Island Park Drive and River Landing Drive. With resident Jason Colon at the helm as owner/executive chef – and interior and exterior design from Daniel Island resident Dan Sweeney of Stumphouse Architecture + Design – the restaurant delivers authentic Italian cuisine in an inviting and comfortable atmosphere in the heart of downtown Daniel Island.

LIDI offers a convenient location and valet parking.

LIDI serves affordable Italian cuisine from regional Italian traditions, with dishes focusing on the finest quality handmade, sustainable and local ingredients. Among the traditional selections are simply prepared basics like chicken marsala, shrimp scampi, bolognese and spaghetti and meatballs. Many of the pastas are made in-house and a selection of menu choices are offered family-style. An extensive wine list, cocktail and dessert menu complement the dining experience. Bar patrons may order from the full menu or choose lighter fare.

“My wife and I recently moved to Daniel Island because of the community’s family atmosphere and all that is offered here,” says Colon. “We’re raising our young daughter to appreciate quality table food that is freshly prepared instead of relying on children’s menu standards like chicken fingers and fries. That’s what we want to develop at LIDI, a place where families can enjoy good, simple food together.”

Colon brings a wealth of culinary experience to Daniel Island. He graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Cambridge, MA and has worked at acclaimed restaurants around the world, including Boston’s Mare (rated one of the “Top 10 tables to dine in the world” by Conde Nast Traveler during Colon’s residency) and Armani Café, Gusttimo di Roma (a chain of Italian cafés in China, Korea and Japan), Sarang (a Korean restaurant in Singapore), and Ciao Mein Restaurant in Hawaii, among others.

Bring the family to check out the Italian cuisine at LIDI that next time you’re looking for dinner out on Daniel Island. The restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday. Visit ristorantelidi.com for more information.
