Blackbaud To Expand World Headquarters on Daniel Island

May 23, 2016

Blackbaud, a growing company that makes software programs serving the global philanthropic community, became one of the Daniel Island’s first corporate offices in 2000 and the island’s first tech sector business. The company has operated out of its 230,000 sq. ft. building on Daniel Island Drive ever since. Earlier this month, it announced plans to re-invest in the community by developing a brand-new world headquarters on Daniel Island and creating space for 300 new jobs. This is exciting news for our community!

The new headquarters on Fairchild Street will allow Blackbaud, which began outgrowing its Daniel Island Drive space years ago, to bring its employees back on the same campus again. With 3,100 employees, the company is now the largest software company in South Carolina and the state’s third-largest publicly traded company. The 360,000 sq. ft. expansion will create office space for 300 new jobs, along with training space to “incubate” emerging nonprofits and teach local elementary-school students to code and design as part of its Camp Blackbaud program.

The new headquarters will be built in two phases and represents an investment of $150 million. Phase one is expected to be completed in 2018.

Established in 1981 in New York, Blackbaud relocated to the Lowcountry in 1989. It has been ranked among South Carolina’s best places to work for six consecutive years and was recognized on Forbes’ America’s Best Midsize Employers list and Forbes’ 25 Fastest-Growing Public Tech Companies list. We are proud to have them as part of our island town community!
