A Little "Southern Style"

April 8, 2015

If you live in the Lowcountry, you already know Darius Rucker’s music very well.  Born and raised in Charleston, this talented singer has become the Holy City’s biggest crooner and Charleston’s most famous musician.

Just yesterday, Rucker released his new country music album called Southern Style. With songs like “You Can Have Charleston”, “Low Country” and “Homegrown Honey”, it’s Rucker’ssecond loving tribute to his hometown after Charleston, SC 1966 released in 2010.  So if you love Charleston and country music, you must check it out!

Darius Rucker is known to the locals not only as a great musician but also as a generous philanthropist.  His “HomeGrown” concert with “Hootie and the Blowfish” takes place right here on Daniel Island every summer and has become an annual “back to school” tradition that helps raise money for underprivileged school children.  The Hootie and the Blowfish Foundation started in 2000 has raised 1.8 dollars to date to support public education in South Carolina.

This year the 13th annual concert will take place at Family Circle Stadium on Friday, August 7th and Saturday, August 8th and concert goers are encouraged to bring school supplies to donate to local schools. Make sure you get your tickets to this not-to-miss island event!
